Purpose
At Che Ceylon Tours, we are committed to promoting sustainable tourism practices that protect Sri Lanka's rich natural heritage, culture, and communities while offering authentic and responsible travel experiences.
Scope
This policy applies to all operations, employees, suppliers, and partners affiliated with Che Ceylon Tours.
1. Environmental Responsibility
- Reduce energy, water, and material consumption in office operations and during tours.
- Promote waste reduction, reuse, and recycling across our activities.
- Work with accommodation and transport providers who follow eco-friendly practices.
- Avoid single-use plastics and encourage guests to bring reusable items.
- Provide eco-friendly bamboo/wood water bottles to clients as gifts.
2. Cultural and Community Engagement
- Support locally owned accommodations, restaurants, service providers, and guides.
- Promote tours that educate guests about Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage respectfully.
- Ensure that all tourism activities respect the customs, traditions, and livelihoods of local communities.
- Provide fair employment opportunities to local residents and invest in community initiatives.
3. Biodiversity and Wildlife Protection
- Avoid tours that exploit or harm animals (e.g., elephant riding).
- Partner only with wildlife operators who follow ethical and non-invasive viewing practices.
- Educate clients on wildlife conservation and park rules before visits.
4. Economic Sustainability
- Promote fair-trade and locally produced goods and services.
- Ensure transparent pricing and fair compensation for all partners.
- Invest a portion of profits in sustainability training and local development projects or charities.
5. Internal Practices and Staff Involvement
- Train staff regularly on sustainable tourism, safety, and environmental/cultural awareness.
- Encourage employee suggestions for sustainability improvements.
- Monitor our practices through regular internal reviews and third-party audits.
6. Customer Awareness
- Inform guests about our sustainability efforts and how they can contribute.
- Provide guidelines for responsible behavior in natural and cultural settings.
7. Compliance and Certification
- Comply with all relevant environmental, labor, and tourism laws in Sri Lanka.
- Work toward and maintain recognized sustainability certifications (e.g., Travel Seal).
- Continuously evaluate and improve our sustainability performance.
